“Don’t be Afraid to Say No” – Energy Scam Awareness Campaign

The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) and the Ontario Ministry of Energy are working together to protect consumers against scams.

Frauds are being committed through phone calls, texts, emails, social media ads and unexpected home visits.  Operators are using aggressive tactics and targeting vulnerable populations, often convincing them to sign contracts.  They often claim to be connected with the OEB or other government programs.

Some companies falsely include the OEB’s name and logo in their messaging.

Be careful when responding to unsolicited emails, texts, calls and in-person visits about your energy services.

Ottawa River Power, the Ministry of Energy and the Ontario Energy Board do not make unsolicited phone calls.  If you are concerned about a suspicious call, please contact:
