Most of our residential customers are charged for electricity based on Time-of-Use pricing.  This means electricity prices vary based on the time of day, the day of the week, and by season.

Electricity used on weekends and holidays is charged the off-peak price during both the Winter and Summer Periods.

Delivery Charges

This covers the cost of delivering electricity from the generator to Ottawa River Power Corp. and then to your home or business.  This includes the costs to build and maintain the transmission and distribution lines, towers, and equipment to operate the local electricity systems.

Some of these charges are fixed and do not change from month to month, while others are variable and increase or decrease depending on the amount of electricity that you use.  All of these charges are bundled together and called a Delivery Charge on your hydro bill.

Global Adjustment

If you have signed with a retailer, you will see your electricity bill also includes a line for the Global Adjustment.  This charge accounts for the differences between the market price and the rates paid to the regulated and contracted generators. For more information, please visit: www.ieso.ca.
